On April 2, 2024, Prabhat Kids School organized an educational field visit for Grade VIII students to the Head Post Office to gain a comprehensive understanding of the post office’s role in communication. The aim of the visit was to provide students with valuable insights into the operations of postal services and their importance in daily life.
Under the expert guidance of the Senior Manager and officials of the Head Post Office, students learned about the crucial role post offices play in day-to-day communication. They were introduced to the Indian PIN code system, understanding how it regulates the efficient delivery of mail.
The students were also briefed about the functioning of the treasury department and given detailed information about postage stamps. They learned about various mail operations, including the postcard system, how mail is sorted, the concept of pigeonholes, and the role of the Railway Mail Service (RMS) in sorting mail according to PIN codes.
The visit also included a tour of the multipurpose counter, where students observed the processes of accepting money orders, booking mail (prepaid and postpaid), selling postage stamps, and the entire barcode and post box systems.
This visit proved to be an enriching and informative experience, with each student receiving thorough answers to their queries from the respective authorities.
